Local NHS and Leeds City Council appoint their new Chief Digital Information Officer

Leonardo Tantari has been appointed as the new Chief Digital Information Officer for NHS Leeds Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Leeds City Council. His post comes after the departure of Dylan Roberts, who left in August of this year to become the Chief Digital Information Officer at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Leonardo TantariLeonardo Tantari (pictured left), said: “I’m really excited to be joining a fantastic Leeds team and look forward to the exciting journey ahead. It will be our mission to make Leeds the best and smartest city in the UK. Leeds has already come a long way and there are a number of exciting projects taking place which I look forward in being involved in, as well as looking at other opportunities.”

Tim Ryley, Chief Executive at NHS Leeds CCG, said: “I’m really looking forward to Leonardo joining the team at Leeds. It’s also an exciting time to be joining the team, as the CCG is well under way with its ‘Shaping our Future’ programme. ‘Shaping our Future’ sets out a powerful case for change and plans to transform the health and care landscape in Leeds.

“We will be driven by Leonardo’s innovation to make Leeds a smart city and he will be supported by colleagues at the CCG and the council.”

Councillor James Lewis, Leeds City Council’s executive member for resources, said: “We’re continuing to see great collaboration and progress to make Leeds a smart city. Working in partnership with the CCG we want to transform modern life through the development and implementation of smart technologies for the 21st century and beyond.

“I’m looking forward to Leonardo joining us on this very exciting journey.”

Leonardo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him; this includes being a Chief Information Officer and has worked in a number of industries including manufacturing, logistics, marketing, legal, retail, financial services, pharmaceutical and banking. He’s worked for organisations like Experian, Travelex and Boots where he led healthcare strategic initiatives within the pharmacy community.

Leonardo is expected to take up his post in December or January 2021.
