Lay Member – Audit & Conflicts of Interest

We are recruiting a Lay Member to join our governing body and lead on Audit and Conflicts of Interest.

As well as sharing responsibility with the other members for all aspects of the CCG’s business, lay members will bring specific expertise and experience to the work of the governing body. The focus will be strategic and impartial, providing an external view of the work of the CCG that is removed from the day-to-day running of the organisation.

The role of the Lay Member – Audit and Conflicts of Interest will be to oversee key elements of governance including audit, remuneration and managing conflicts of interest, and will have a specific role in ensuring that appropriate and effective whistleblowing and anti-fraud systems are in place.

The Lay Member – Audit and Conflicts of Interest will act as chair of the Audit Committee and will be the Conflicts of Interest Guardian for the CCG.

The lay members have a lead role in ensuring that the Governing Body and the wider CCG behaves with the utmost probity at all times.

Candidates should have local knowledge and interests and a commitment to good, high quality patient care. For further information, please see the Supporting Information Pack for Applicants, Role Description and Application Form which can be downloaded from this page.

The time commitment is a minimum of 3 days per month, including some possible evening engagements, and the remuneration will be approximately £15,000 – £20,000 per annum.

This post is a three year appointment, commencing from 1 June 2019.

Please note that there are certain restrictions on who can be appointed as a lay member of a CCG governing body, which are set out on pages 6-7 of the Supporting Information Pack.
