New NHS West Yorkshire Partnership Organisation

From Friday 1 July 2022, the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (WY HCP) will include a new statutory organisation within it called the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB). The new Board is part of new legislation set out in the Health and Care Act 2022, which focuses on improving outcomes for people by addressing health inequalities, the difference in care received and effective use of budgets across the area.

Leeds residents urged to take steps to prevent or delay Type 2 Diabetes

This week (23 – 29 May) is Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week and residents in Leeds are reminded that one in ten residents will be affected by diabetes – either because they have it already or are at high risk of developing it. Tens of thousands know someone with the condition. Yet despite it becoming increasingly common the condition is often preventable and those at risk can make lifestyle changes to reduce that risk.

With the May day bank holiday fast approaching, the NHS in Leeds is encouraging people to plan ahead to stay well. Anyone who takes regular medication and needs a repeat prescription should order it in advance to make sure they have enough medication to last over the bank holiday.

NHS COVID-19 vaccinations available now in Leeds for all 5 -11 year olds

The NHS in Leeds has begun offering COVID-19 vaccinations to 5 – 11 year-olds. This follows the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation’s (JCVI) recommendation that all 5-11 year-olds be offered the covid vaccination to boost immunity and increase their protection against any future waves of Covid.
