We are working with young people to create an agreement between young people and senior leaders on things that matter the most to young people about their health, also known as a youth charter.
Brief description of project
We are collecting young people’s views, thoughts and experiences of the healthcare system to feed into a health based youth charter for the city of Leeds.
This project has two phases. The first one was collecting feedback. The second phases which we are currently in, is checking our themes are correct and designing the youth charter.
Who did we speak to?
We heard from 39 young people in phase one, which included young people from community organisation and youth groups such as Barca Leeds, the Leeds Breeze team, the youth boards at Leeds Teaching Hospital and Leeds Community Healthcare.
We are now sense checking the key themes with more groups of young people.
What and how did we ask?
We asked three main questions through a survey and focus groups. Links are below in the How you can help section:
Thinking about the health care system today, what don’t you like?
Thinking about the health care system today, what do you think works well?
What would your dream health care system look like?
What did people tell us?
People told us:
What will we do?
Once the youth charter is complete, we will hold a launch online through social media for senior leaders to come and sign the charter. Details of the event will follow.
The youth charter will be published on this website and also will be sent to anyone who shared their contact details in the survey.
The youth charter will be shared with commissioners and services for young people.
