You Said, We Did

We are constantly striving to ensure that what patients, PPG members, and staff are telling us is being listened to and, wherever possible, actioned.

How have we used your feedback?

We value your feedback as it helps us to make improvements to our services. Here are some examples of what we’ve done in response to your feedback:

Quality Indicator Checklist, You Said:

We need a tool to help us measure how productive and meaningful our PPG is.

Quality Indicator Checklist, We Did:

We worked with PPG members and practice staff to co-produce a PPG Quality Indicator checklist.

PPG Training, You Said:

We want training to help us understand the role of PPGs and how we can make our PPGs more effective.

PPG Training, We Did:

We co-produced free PPG training for people in Leeds. This is co-delivered with the CCG Associate Director of Primary Care.

PPG Event, You Said:

We would like an annual PPG event where PPG members from across the city can come together to learn and share good practice.

PPG Event, We Did:

We facilitated a PPG event working group, which included PPG members. The group planned, delivered, and evaluated PPG events in 2017 2018 and 2019.  An event for 2020 is currently being developed.

PPG Network, You Said:

We would like a PPG network which give us the opportunity to meet regularly with other PPG members, support each other and share good practice.

PPG Network, We Did:

We set up a PPG network that meets monthly.

PPG Funding, You Said:

We would like funding to allow us to develop innovative engagement with people registered at our practice.

PPG Funding, We Did:

We secured funding from the CCG to support engagement work in PPGs. The funding criteria were co-produced with the PPG Network and network members were on the awards panel. Full details can be found here.

PPG Support, You Said:

We would like a PPG network which give us the opportunity to meet regularly with other PPG members, support each other and share good practice.

PPG Support, We Did:

We regularly attend PPGs across Leeds to support their work.

PPG Leaflet, You Said:

We need a PPG leaflet to help us recruit new members.

PPG Leaflet, We Did:

We worked with patients to co-produce a PPG leaflet. The leaflet is available on our website and we send hard copies of the leaflet to every GP practice in Leeds.

Key Factors for Effective Patient Participation Groups

Healthwatch Leeds worked with eight GP practices and the One Medical group to find out the key factors that make up a well-functioning PPG. They looked at the following areas:

  • What do people think are the key factors for a well-functioning PPG?
  • What works?
  • What are the challenges?
  • What support is required?
  • Examples of impact and changes through a PPG.

From this study, Healthwatch Leeds identified a number of recommendations based on the feedback. Below you can find the report and a list of recommendations and the actions that have arisen from them.
