Collaborative Involvement

Background

For several years, NHS Leeds CCG Involvement team has contracted local third sector organisation Voluntary Action Leeds (Leeds Voices), and previously Leeds Involving People, to support our work to hear the voices of more marginalised people and communities in the city.

Often these people and communities can experience barriers to accessing health and care services, which serves to increase their risk of experiencing health inequalities and poorer health outcomes as a result.

Our four year contract with Leeds Voices ended on 31 December 2021, and we are now working with local partners to develop a collaborative approach to involvement, which:

  • Recognises the huge amount of engagement and involvement work already undertaken, and going on,
  • Seeks to avoid duplicating work and builds from a position of what we already know,
  • Aims to add value and resource to support citywide priorities with an overarching ambition of reducing health inequalities.

So what are we doing now?

November 2021 Workshops

To help shape our next steps we have been having conversations with a wide range of partners, and we hosted two virtual workshops in November 2021 to bring together interested parties to hear their thoughts on what we need to consider moving forward.

27 people attended the workshops from a range of local organisations, and summary notes and the evaluation feedback are available below:

February 2022 Workshops

28 colleagues and partners joined us for follow-up workshops on 8 and 10 February 2022 where we fed back our learning from the November workshops and outlined some of our proposals for the way ahead. Brief notes and slides from the sessions are available below:
